Atlas Alignment Measurement Tool

Description:

This project was created to solve a problem in the upper cervical medical community. Its focus is on determining the degree to which a patient's atlas is out of alignment. A version of my product design is currently being used in industry today.

By comparing the scale weight between a patient's left and right foot, the degree to which the atlas is aligned can be determined accurately.

The Atlas Alignment Measurement Tool aka Double Scale utilizes 4 load cells per foot plate, for a total of 8 cells per Double Scale. These 4 load cells are wired up as a wheatstone bridge circuit to provide the most accurate measurements possible. This also helps produce consistent measurements, no matter where the patient is standing on the foot plate. Double Scale utlizes the HX711 IC, which is a high precision ADC that was designed for load cells configured as a wheatstone bridge.

Double Scale hosts a web server with a light web interface to relay the weight distribution information. It can be setup one of two ways. Either by it connecting to a local WiFi network, or by hosting its own Access Point and network. Once Double Scale is connected, its website can be accessed by any device on the network with a web browser. The data is streamed over a web socket and is updated multiple times per second.
